I have never seen kids so excited for such a rotten season. What is so great about the cold, ice and snow? It just guarantees that I will never be on time for anything. The prep work to get the kids alone out of the house takes 3 times longer when you have to wear so many layers! Not to mention the matter of getting out of the driveway! However, They all 3 came flying into my room bright and early in the morning screaming "It's Winter Time!"so excited about the snow. Of course they instantly began the begging and so I dragged my sleepy behind out of bed, crawled down the stairs and began the quest for the snow clothes. The quest was only slightly successful but I bundled them up the best I could and off they went. I, of course planned to stay snug in my house with my warm jammies and a nice mug of hot cocoa. Only venturing out to snap an occasional picture or two from the deck. However, guilt started creeping in and I decided I better go help them build a snowman because everybody knows that the first snow of the year is the best for snowman building! I headed back to the basement to dig out some warm clothes for Zoey and me, snuggled her in her car seat and reluctantly plodded out the back door. I have to say I was super surprised to see the rolling three huge snowballs!! Dax had one all ready finished and was working on another and Hadley was almost done with yet another! I guess I wasn't needed after all! I helped them make them a little bigger, stacked them up and found a scarf and some twigs and Taa Daaah! SNOWMAN! It was terrific. I can't believe they are old enough to make their own snowman. It snowed again a few days later and they were back at the begging. I bundled them up and sent them out early because we had a baptism to attend that afternoon but they got sent back in because apparently the pheasant hunt has begun and our house is right in the middle of the firing zone. So, as to avoid being shot, they all came kicking and screaming back in for some hot cocoa! And as a side note, this year Chad is taking the cat pheasant hunting! Yes, you read it right, our cat is constantly scarring up and attacking pheasants. Crazy or Brilliant? we don't know but he is a pretty cool cat. Any how, welcome winter, I despise you immensely however, I will tolerate you the best I can at least until Christmas is over. After that I will most likely curse you everyday until the tulips and daffodils start popping up and you are on your way out!
